VINCENT BRENNER    —  Associated with cigarette smoke, leather jackets and boots, stoicism and blunt questions, billiards and pool halls, beers in the evenings, bruised hands and calloused fingers, cold stares, uncomfortable silences, good intentions behind rough facades, tough love.Raised by war Veteran Luther and Burlesque Dancer turned seamstress Eleanor. While the tattoo industry was not their first thought for where Vincent would end up, they saw through to Vincent's passion for creativity and individuality. Each find pride in the business he grew.

  CALVIN    —  Brought on as a partner for Vincent and the first team member "under" him. Vincent didn't appreciate his personality, felt he was cocky and arrogant- and hated his name due to poor association. They butted heads like brothers, and eventually, Vincent learned that Cal could back up his talk with skill. There's some underlying respect there, but you'd be hard pressed to pull it from Vincent's mouth himself.

He helped to mentor Andrew when he became of age and eventually retired with his wife out into the country. He still makes appearances at the shop every so often, but for the most part the relationships are carried from a distance.

  WYATT FISCHER    —  First artist hired on by Andrew after meeting him at a convention. Originally located in North Carolina, Andrew was drawn to the neo-traditional style and portfolio he had built up.The two hit it off well and stayed into contact until Andrew had one day posted about wanting to bring on a new artist to the shop. Wyatt messaged explaining he wanted to relocate and after a few back and forth messages about logistics, the two struck a deal and Wyatt was brought on to the team.

  SUZANNA BRENNER    —  Associated with wildflowers and honeysuckle, lace and leather, delicate perfume and deep smoked make up, home cooked meals and cross necklaces, 60s and 70s music, sunny days and cool breezes, denim, Rebellion with safety nets.Raised by Calvin (retired electrician, church deacon) and Alma (home maker and Sunday school teacher). Heavily involved in the church and raised Suzanna to prioritize religion above all else. Personification of conditional love and modesty.

  OWEN    —  Owen was an apprentice under Cal and Vincent as Vincent began to build his own team. he was the final member added prior to Andrew and, ten years Andrew's senior, he considered Owen a brother figure. Owen played an important part in his apprenticeship when Vincent was not available and is the reason Andrew introduced piercing into Hard Line.
Owen relocated down to Florida where Andrew takes bi-annual guest spots at his own shop.

  LAURA DEZI    —  In a very desperate attempt at regaining control of the shop, Andrew had been considering a front desk receptionist to handle appointments and general questions. Andrew aired his grievances with Laura at her appointment about the new chore at hand.Laura, with her own front of house experience, was more than willing to leave her present job for the shop once the logistics were worked out for the position. In a few months time, she was hired to handle administrative duties. Eventually, she was also taken under Andrew's wing and apprenticed to become second shop piercer.

  GEMMA    —  Andrew's Fiance in late twenties- early thirties. Antique shop worker and substitute teacher. Strong-willed, independent, caring, loving, perfect. Head strong, determined. Met after she had gotten a first tattoo done by him and Andrew broke all rules to ask her out.Engagement was ended by Gemma when Andrew became so infatuated with his work and put their relationship on the back burner. Simply, she was ready, he was not. Had other priorities- different priorities. The relationship ended amicably. They still remain in touch and Gemma sends things to him that she believes fits his shop/home aesthetic.

  NAOMI SANCHEZ    —  Co-worker at Hard Line tattoo hired by Vincent. Walked in with portfolio, convinced them of giving an apprenticeship, and the rest is history. Andrew's failed blind date set up by Suzanna and Vincent before Gemma came into his life, though the connection was much stronger platonically- even boarding sibling like.Naomi tattoos in a traditional style and is essentially Andrew's second in command and closest friend in the industry and in general.

GROWING UP, Andy had lived a charmed life. His father, Vincent, was a rough and rugged tattoo artist who had inherited a shop by the name of Hard Line Tattoo; his mother, Suzanna, was a former church girl lured into the rock and roll lifestyle of the seventies. Together, they grew their business into one of the most popular shops in the area- despite the poor image tattoos had at the time. When Suzanna became pregnant with the baby boy, the two were elated and immediately felt the most love they had ever had. Come August 23rd, Andy had made his debut and their life had been completed.An only child and an heir to the business, there was no question he would inevitably end up spoiled. All this said, Suzanna made certain he remained humble and knew life would not always hand him opportunities like he had been born in to. Once old enough, he visited Vincent in the shop, and soaked in any ounce of knowledge he could at a young age. He helped to clean and decorate- the easiest tasks a ten year old could muster.Years later, he was promoted to front desk and appointment managing after school, alongside his mother.In High school, Andy met his high school love by the name of James. The two were near inseparable, and while he worried about his fathers approval, Suzanna was supportive with no hesitancy.She had grown to love and appreciate all walks of life, regardless of sexuality, gender, race, and so forth- much different from how she had been raised, Vincent felt the same, but the stereotypical male ego in him made accepting his son loved men only a tad difficult.

Regardless, the two eventually accepted James into their family with open arms. Come senior year when James left for college, the two battled long distance but made it work to the best of his ability. In Andrew's senior year, they eventually split. The reason? James met someone else in college, and the two relationships had overlapped.ADULTHOOD: Accepted into college, Andrew threw himself into work and graduated with a double major in Fine Arts and Business Administration. He drank rather heavily and began his apprenticeship under his father. The first few years of college were spent partying and studying with very little breathing time between. In the mourning of his first love, he realized he didn't want to find someone else. He wanted to focus on himself. Very dramatic.Now, his love life was not entirely nonexistent. He met with and even slept with a few women and men, sparsely, in his twenties. But one in particular, Gemma, was something special. Andy had performed her first tattoo, and while he had a strict no dating client rule, he fell for her. She was independent, and beautiful, and strong. He was absolutely smitten, and so were his parents.They went on to date for five consecutive years, and soon the idea of marriage had become a conversation. Gemma had wanted it deeply, to be a wife and a mother; a power couple, each running their own businesses. She never forced his hand, but Andy felt himself backed against a wall. Eventually he had proposed, and all was well. But just as quick as the engagement happened, it was called off. Gemma realized that no matter how much he loved her, he would love his work more.She made the executive decision to call off the engagement due to his own negligence, and Andy made no fight- because she was right. While the ache of losing Gemma and going their separate ways stung, it was not quite as impactful as James.This was, as his dad saw it, because he had already experienced his first real heart break. He had turned himself numb. Of course, Suzanna hated this thinking, but he wasn't entirely wrong.

Suzanna then got the bright idea to connect him with their newest apprentice- Naomi.And while the two hit it off wonderfully, they could not quite match. She was strong and fiery, and knew Andrew had no time on his hands for connection quite that seep. That being said, they tried it. Suzanna could be very persuasive.It was clear after a failed attempt at a date that Love was quite literally the last thing on his mind. He made a life for himself, and he was content with this.
And so they never dated, but remained close friends. He was a Bride's man at her wedding when the time came for it, vetted her husband and adored him. But that was the closest he came to being at the alter.PRESENT DAY: Now, at 40 years old, he maintains his single life style, working himself to exhaustion, resting, then doing it all over again. Sleeping in his own apartment alone, making his own ready made meals, the occasional work outing with the girls and charity outings on weekends. He's happy... he assumes.And how could he not be? His life had been charmed, albeit a few obstacles in his way. He had the best group of friends and family in the shop team. What more could a man need?
